Thanks to a recent revival of an ancient healing modality, just about everyone is familiar these days with Aromatherapy.  Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils from plant materials that contain chemical properties that aid in balancing the body’s chemistry and helps us to obtain emotional release or  stability.  The aromas of essential oils are processed by the limbic region of the brain which is the emotional center.

Everyone has a favorite scent that transports them to a different time and space and helps them recapture an almost forgotten memory.  But I would like to share with you how to take this amazing, sensual therapy to a new level by giving you information on the colors associated with essential oils.  When you understand the color associated with the oil you can determine which chakra center it will resonate to and help to balance.  For instance cinnamon is associated to and resonates to the color RED.  Our red root chakra is the center of our physical vitality.  Red stimulates life energy!  And who can deny the amazing stimulating fragrance of cinnamon?  With that as an example, I will list just a few of the oils associated to each of the seven main chakra centers.  This will aid the person interested in Aromatherapy to select oils that will give the desired result.

Red root chakra– cinnamon, ylang ylang, clove, black pepper and spruce

Orange sacral chakra–tangerine, mandarin, neroli and melissa

Yellow solar plexus chakra–basil, lemongrass, bergamot, birch and lemon
