Our Chakra Centers- Wheels of Light.
Submitted by Penelope Marshall (view website)Our chakra centers are taken from an ancient system of yoga. The word chakra is derived from Sanskrit and literally means “wheel” or plate, but it actually refers to energy centers or “wheels” in our bodies. They are connected a to our nervous system along the spine, our endocrine system or hormonal system and all of the various ducts and glands associated with these systems. The beauty and complex simplicity is that they respond to color.
The chakras also represent the elements of the Earth. For those of you familiar with Astrology, each sign is assigned and element but in Astrology only four elements are named and they are Fire, Earth, Air and Water. These four elements occur in that order and are repeated three times as we navigate around the Zodiac. In other studies there is a fifth element which is Ether or Space. Space and Air are not the same. Space exists in our bodies and our Universe without Air. The chakra centers also include Light and Spirit. Thus we go from the tangible to the intangible but non the less “real”.
I feel that some of the greatest discoveries yet to be found and/or remembered exist within. By understanding our connection to all things we discover our true nature. One that is not separate and existing alone as we sometimes believe.
The root chakra is connected to Earth, the orange chakra is connected to Water, yellow to Fire, green to Air, blue to Ether, indigo to Light and finally violet to Spirit. By clearing our energy centers we allow our true light to shine. Namaste!
