El Salvador produces biodiesel
Submitted by AlicinhaEl Salvador, thanks to its favorable climate, can produce biofuels from the sugarcane, according to a study coordinated by the Department of Sustainable Development of the Organization of American States (OAS).
For the ecologists “the environmental impact and the social consequences” of the production and massive commercialization of biofuels “generate increase of the deforestation of native forests, indiscriminate expansion of the agricultural border, destruction of the ecosystem and the biodiversity and displacement of rural workers”.
Francisco Burgos, specialist in energy and sustainable development of the OAS, assured that according to the study not only “not that dilemma exists”, but the country would not have that to produce more cane to satisfy the demand as much biocombustibles as of human consumption, therefore with the current production can be carried out.
The biofuel produced would be able to mix with common gasoline in a proportion of 10 percent of biocombustibles and 90 percent of by-product of the petroleum.
