Sudden Infant Death
Submitted by AlicinhaSyndrome of Sudden Infant Death (SSID) occurs when a baby is apparently healthy and dies while sleeping. This type of death is very common in the first months of life babies.
The baby’s breathing is impaired, it stops for more than 10 seconds and that is what is causing their death.
All babies are vulnerable to suffering from it but it is important to give special attention to children early because sometimes they forget to breathe. Many premature babies suffer respiratory disseases, which increases the possibility of suffering sudden death.
It is important to bear in mind that some research has linked a genetic hereditary factor. Where once one of your children has been the victim of this disease, it is recommended to monitor breathing during the night of your baby.
Some recommendations:
- Baby must sleep face up.
- Do not allow to reach toys and pillows, and cover him completely.
- Avoid smoking and smoke so that the baby does not suffer respiratory diseases.
- Avoid lying on extremely soft surfaces like sofas and cushions.
- Do not wrap too much heat because it increases the risk of sudden death syndrome.
