Four thousand women participated in Palermo, Buenos Aires, in a race exclusively for them: The Nike Girls Race 5K. Moreover, this race, held for the fourth consecutive year, took place in Mexico City, Sao Paulo and Asuncion, Paraguay. Throughout Latin America ,18,100 women participated in this race to mark Women’s Day.

In Argentina, recently passed a law (No. 25,501) which provides health priority for control and prevention of cardiovascular disease. This reflects the importance of education to prevent the female population and encourage them to adopt healthy habits, among which include:

  1. No smoking or having stopped smoking more than 1 year.
  2. Having a body mass index below 25 kg/m2;
  3. Physical activity at least 150 minutes (moderate intensity) or 75 minutes (strong intensity) per week, 20 minutes daily of moderate intensity or 10 minutes intense.
  4. Eating a healthy diet (low salt and sugar, rich in fruits, vegetables, cereals and fish).
  5. Having a total cholesterol under 200 mg / dl;
  6. Have blood pressure below 120/80 mm Hg;
  7. Having the fasting blood glucose below 100 mg / dl.
