Understanding why cutting too much of calories will sabotage and back fire your Weight loss Efforts?

Everyone who want to be slim want to lose weight fast, and get tempted for making drastic changes in his or her diet to reduce calories dramatically. However what you don’t know is that eating too less calories can keep you from losing weight.

It makes sense to stop or reduce eating, but doing it extensively will works in oppositely. This is reported by Kimberly Lummus, RD, MS, Dietetic Association media representative and PR coordinator at Austin Dietetic Association in Texas.

Connection to the Calories to Your Health

Simple yet effective weight loss strategy is to consume fewer calories, creating a calorie deficit. However if this dips too low, you go in starvation mode, and your body will start storing more fat assuming it will not going to get anything. Kimberly also said that “You will be at a certain point when your body will standstill.”

She then added that when our body goes in starvation mode, the metabolism slow down to crawl and burn calories very slowly to conserve its stored energy. Therefore cutting calories too low makes you reach a plateau and you stop losing any weight.

Eating too low start a vicious cycle which causes diet distress that slows down the metabolism, and you probably will become frustrated that your weight loss efforts are not paying you off and you may tend to overeat and ultimately gain more weight.

Sustaining to cutting calories and eating too few is difficult. You usually go in opposite direction, become too hungry and get into binging mode. As you get frustrated by not experiencing any weight loss, you start to throw in the towel.

Additionally, eating too few calories is harmful for your health and can increase the risk of following;

  • Heart rhythm abnormalities
  • Abnormally slow heart rate and low blood pressure
  • Gallstones
  • Electrolyte imbalances, particularly potassium deficiency
  • Brittle fingernails
  • Hair loss
  • Soft hair growth over entire body
  • Loss of menstrual periods in women
  • Dizziness
  • Trouble in concentrating
  • Swelling in your joints
  • Anemia
  • Brittle bones
  • Depression

Never forget that calories are your friends not enemies. They are part of your Xtreme Fat Loss Diet and also essential to live energetic and healthy life. Our body needs a specific amount of calories to sustain appropriate function. This is the reason why fad diets which pushes us to cut down too many calories can leave us feeling shaky, lethargic and ready to give up.
