The world has come a long way in the past couple of decades. More and more people have been lifted from poverty and are living healthier than past generations.

However, there are still plenty of health issues out there that need solving. We’ve collected the following health problems that are being faced worldwide in the hopes of raising awareness about their dangers. No matter if you’re looking for a health care lawyer or just curious about these problems, read on to learn more.

1. Early Pregnancy & Childbirth

Issues that happen during early pregnancy and childbirth are a leading cause of death for young girls around the world. There are too many girls from the ages of 15 to 19 getting pregnant (most against their will) and dying because of complications.

The best precaution against this health issue is sex education and the use of contraceptives during sex.

2. HIV

There are more than 2 million adolescent children living with HIV around the world. Add in the number of adults with the disease and that number rises dramatically. HIV is one of the most known diseases out there and has been one of the toughest to find a cure for.

The best way we’re going to fight HIV is to raise awareness around the world about the importance of sex education and keep raising money to find a cure.

3. Other Infectious Diseases

Everything from diarrhea to meningitis to a ton of other infectious diseases still kill thousands of people around the world every year. Even with all of our medical advances, we still have an uphill battle in front of us to raise awareness about these diseases and find cures.

4. Mental Health

Mental health conditions like depression are a leading cause for suicide around the world. And this happens across the board, in every age group. Even though a lot of the world doesn’t classify mental conditions under the health concerns umbrella, the awareness of mental health is growing every day.

The best precaution to take against mental health issues is by starting at the youngest of us. We should make sure that every school has the proper tools needed to help kids grow up in a positive environment with the necessary counseling available, no matter what.

5. Violence

Violence between peers, among family members, and among spouses is a leading cause of a death around the world. No matter who you are or where you come from, chances are that you’ve experienced violence in some sort during your lifetime.

The best way to prevent violence among our populations is to teach young people how to treat each other with respect and promote non-violence within family settings.

6. Alcohol & Drugs

Drinking alcohol and consuming various drugs are huge problems around the world, especially in younger sectors of the population. The usage of these substances can inhibit our ability to think clearly and make rational decisions, leading to injuries and sometimes death. That’s why the sale of alcohol and dangerous drugs should be prohibited for certain ages and strictly enforced across the board.

7. Malnutrition & Obesity

These two conditions might seem very opposite, but they all stem from eating problems when kids are young. So many children around the world aren’t getting the nutrition needed to grow up big and strong, leading them to become malnourished as adults. On the other side of the coin, so many kids in many countries are growing up with too much sugary and processed foods, leading them to obesity.

The best precaution against this issue is raising awareness in kids around the world about the importance of eating healthy and getting enough exercise.

8. Tobacco Use

Around the world, 1 in 10 young people between the ages of 13 to 15 use tobacco products. This is a huge problem, as this means that there will be more and more adults in the future that are using these products. We all know the dangers that come with using tobacco products, so it should come as no surprise that this is still one of the most pressing health issues of our time.

This can be solved through the higher taxing of tobacco products and prohibiting the sale of tobacco products to younger parts of the population.

9. Unintentional Injuries

Everything from drowning to car accidents are leading causes of death around the world. You may not think of unintentional injuries as a health emergency, but if you add up all of these accidents together, you would have an incredibly large number of injuries that lead to death or disability.

10. Antibiotic Resistant Diseases

This health problem is one of the most pressing of our times, but most people don’t think about it when coming up with a list like this. Because of our continued and ever-growing use of antibiotic drugs for all kinds of illnesses, bacteria are coming more and more resistant to their effects. This means that in the near future, we could see epidemics sprout up that can’t be cured through the use of antibiotics – one of the key medical advances of our modern times.

All of these health problems require our serious attention if we want to cure them and make more of our populations healthy. Make sure to continue to educate yourself on these diseases and the effects.
